Every World Belly Dance Award contestant will receive:

Registering online is advised so you can receive updated information and details sooner. Also if you are one of the first 30 oriental or fusion applicants you win the option to audition on August 18th, all other oriental and fusion dancers MUST audition on the 17th of August. Dancers can also sign up in person on August 16th beginning at 08:00AM.

Online Registration Audition Fee (before August 1st, 2015): $33/200 RMB
In-person Registration Audition Fee (on August 17th, 2015): $55/350 RMB
you will be required then register for the World Belly Dance Awards. It is an additional 600 RMB to participate in the actual competition, which includes: (A) 2015 World Belly Dance Award Certification signed by all Five Master Judges, (B) live dance feedback from master judges, (C) high quality video of your performance , the chance to be seen around the globe and become a superstar.
*Contestants must register at the DFU registration desk (second floor of the Kerry Hotel) before 10:00 AM on August 18th or they will be eliminated from the competition.
If you win first place in the Fusion or Oriental category, then you will be expected to improvise (depending on your particular category). Your opponent will also improvise to their music genre. The best performer will then be awarded King or Queen of Dance for Unity 2015.
No. We’re only accepting live auditions this year. Please register early, first 30 contenders will be auditioned on August 18th. Please advise if you elect to audition on August 17th. Contender number 31+ will be auditioned on August 17th on a “first come first serve” basis. SIGN UP NOW. * DFU will not provide accommodation for the night of August 17th as part of the conference package.
Every contestant should have three (3) different routines prepared. A contender may repeat the Audition routine at anytime. However, the allowed duration is longer, so you will be required to adjust your performance. Please check above for length requirements. In the event of a contestant making it to the King/Queen duel, then he/she will need to improvise one more number. Whoever wins the duel will be asked to perform in the closing gala (a routine of their choice where the music is three minutes or less - this can be the same number from one of the competition rounds or something new). See below for details on “how many times will I be performing?
How many times you perform depends on how well you do. However, Juniors and Groups should be prepared to perform four separate times (once in the auditions, three times in the official competition if they continue to advance to the next level). Professional Oriental and Professional Fusion competitors should be prepared to perform up to six times (once for the audition, three times for the main section of the competition, once for the Queen/King duel and one more time in the Closing Gala show. Please prepare accordingly.
If a contestant wins the AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD and another award, then they get all prizes involved for both awards.
No. Contestants must choose only one category.

Yes, however, if you elect to pay the day of the audition the fee is 350RMB.
No, if the audition is paid for it will not be refunded.

– Public posting of top ten in each category who on to the Quarter Finals
August 19th – Quarter Finals - Ten competitors in each category perform and five will advance on to the Semi-Finals
August 20th – Semi-Finals – Five competitors in each category perform and 3 will advance on to the Finals
August 21st – Finals –Top 3 competitors in each category will perform.
Audiences will vote for their favorite dancer for the Audience Choice Award and the Professional Master Judges will decide on the first, second and third place in each category. The first place Oriental and first place Fusion dancer will duel, improvising to live Arabic and live tribal fusion music. The top performer will be announced as Queen or King of Dance For Unity 2015.
No. However, if they are at a professional level and chaperoned by legal guardians, select junior groups may compete with adults in the group category ONLY if they are approved at the auditions. However, be forewarned that they will be judged with the same criteria as adults. Juniors competing as a group may not compete as individuals in the Junior category.
Your music may not be any longer than the written requirements. It can be shorter if you desire. All music must be edited to the appropriate time by the contestant’s before submitting to the World Belly Dance Awards or will be disqualified. Please clearly label each song and which portion of the competition it is for (quarter final, semi-final, or final).

All contestants will get feedback from top master judges to improve their dance, a beautiful video of their performance quality and the opportunity to perform on the most amazing stage with the highest production belly dance has ever seen. You also get a chance to be broadcasted on television and aired live on the internet around the world. Not only the winners but everyone is getting a real shot at stardom.
No. Contenders auditioning on August 17th may choose and arrange her/his own accommodation for the night of August 17th since DFU’s all inclusive conference packages begin on August 18th.
However, for your convenience, DFU will arrange special discounted rates (hotel + breakfast cost) at the Kerry Hotel, Pudong, Shanghai, China. These are the rates:
- 1 person (breakfast included) per room = 800 RMB
- 2 people (breakfast included) per room = 475 RMB per person
